Re: Spam Infestation

Oh well.. spam messages appear even on the finest of boards, I suppose. Not much that can be done about that, save perhaps for the manual approval of every new applicant, which is time consuming and off-putting for a lot of people just looking for a place to hang out for a bit..

We'll just keep reporting the stuff, it's usually dealt with within a matter of hours, which really isn't that bad.

Re: Spam Infestation

Manual approval of registrations is one measure I'd rather not take, exactly for the reason that it's frustrating to register at a community and having to wait for hours at least, sometimes longer (though in our case, it would probably be only a matter of hours) before one can finally get to posting.

Re: Spam Infestation

I know.. I usually don't bother with forums like that. Aside from being a PITA it sends out a negative vibe that somehow newbies are not really welcome. The only times I put up with that is with some specialist forums where there just is no alternative..

Re: Spam Infestation

I felt that way about the Fedora Lounge, and now I think about it, I felt like that even after I was allowed to post...then again, it's a much larger and in many ways colder community than here.

Re: Spam Infestation

Apologies about the recent invasion of spambots, folks.  They really seem to have it in for us lately...  The IP range from which they came (all the same) has been banned so hopefully we'll see no more of this, for at least a little while.

Re: Spam Infestation

Phew, I hope so... some of them were really quite nasty hmm

Sorry, left the Falcon in the Bentley. Right now, you answer to my Ronson T-T.

All hail Kremperpunk.

Re: Spam Infestation

I very much appreciate spam being reported, for I don't always check out the entire forums when I visit, however, if it's a single account spamming that it's sufficient to report a single post, for I will simply delete the spambot account and all posts made by it.  Thanks!

Re: Spam Infestation

Apparently, some spam bots have found a way to out-smart out otherwise very clever protection measures. Apologies for the inconvenience, people!

Re: Spam Infestation

Oh dear, not again!
