Re: The Automobile Thread

Why that would be a most gracious method of transportation indeed, though I must admit I don't care much for the black fume exhaling from the back of the contraption... wink

The Jaguar SS 100 big_smile

Re: The Automobile Thread

When I watched, as a child in the 1970's, The Great Race, my fave car became the Leslie Special (link) and it has stayed like that ever since.

How's this?  The 1954 BMW 502.

German.  But still very British, don't you think?

No. Bavarian wink

Re: The Automobile Thread

You can still buy the Jaguar SS100, though you have to build it yourself XD. It seems to be a bit different to a normal kit car though, just about everything except the engine and gearbox is in the kit, so you effectively get an original Jag with no rust but with modern and reliable (though quiter and less characterful) running gear. Eventually.

Anyway, i love the Ford Zodiac mk2, but have to dash soon so can't get a pic right now. Just imagine a detroit jukebox done in a more sombre British way.

Re: The Automobile Thread

Would this be the automobile you're referring to?

It doesn't strike me as particularly British, though.  Of course with Ford being an American brand of car manufacture, I wouldn't think of England when looking at a Ford vehicle in the first place...

Re: The Automobile Thread

No, the one before that:

and the wagon

The mk3 makes me think of police sirens with nondescript 1960's TV music in the backhround XD

Re: The Automobile Thread

Indeed!  It could make a perfect police vehicle!

But the car you meant is much more steampunkish indeed!  Actually, I'd categorize it under "dieselpunk", with its stylish deco looks.
